Computer is an Electronic device that processes the input data according to the instructions given by the user and provides the desired information as output. The word “Computer” originated from the Greek Language “Compute” which means to “Calculate”. Originally, Computer was considered to be a calculating device that can perform Arithmetic operations at enormous speed. Today, Computers have become an essential part of everybody’s life. Computers are being used in almost every field now and everyday new areas of activities are being discovered.

कम्प्यूटर एक इलेक्ट्रॉनिक डिवाइस है, जो यूजर के द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के अनुसार डेटा को प्रोसेस करके सूचना में बदलकर आउटपुट प्रदान करता है। कम्प्यूटर शब्द ग्रीक भाषा के 'कम्प्यूट' शब्द से लिया गया है, जिसका अर्थ "गणना" करना होता है। मूलतः कम्प्यूटर को तेज गति से अंकगणतीय कार्य करने वाली डिवाइस माना जाता था। आज कम्प्यूटर हमारे जीवन का एक अहम हिस्सा बन चुका है। कम्प्यूटर आज लगभग हर क्षेत्र में उपयोग किये जा रहे है-  

For Examples: Computers are used in Homes, Offices, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Nursing homes, Hospitals, Export houses, Shops and Business establishments, Industries, Bank, Railway Stations, Airports, Research Centers and many other Organizations. 

उदाहरण के लिए-

कम्प्यूटर घरो, कार्यालयों, स्कूलों, कॉलेजों, विश्वविद्यालयों, नर्सिंग होम, अस्पतालों, निर्यात घरानों,  दुकानों और व्यावसायिक प्रतिष्ठानों, उद्योगों, बैंक, रेलवे स्टेशनों, हवाई अड्डों, अनुसंधान केंद्रों और कई अन्य संगठनों में उपयोग किये जाते हैं।

Computer was originally invented mainly for doing high speed and accurate calculations, it is not just a calculating device. The Computer can perform any kind of work involving Arithmetic and logical operations on data. It gets the data through and input device, Processed it as per the instructions given and gives the information as output. 

कम्प्यूटर मुख्य रूप से शुद्ध और तेज गति से कैलकुलेशन करने के लिए बनाए गए थे, लेकिन आज सिर्फ नाम रह गया है, कि कम्प्यूटर कैलकुलेशन करने के लिए बनाए गए थे। आज के समय में कम्प्यूटर डेटा पर हर प्रकार की कैलकुलेशन करने मे सक्षम है। यह डेटा को इनपुट डिवाइस के द्वारा लेता है, और उसे निर्देश के अनुसार प्रोसेस करके सूचना में बदलकर आउटपुट के रूप में प्रदान करता है।

Note:- Charles Babbage is known as the Father of Computer. He made the first computer in 1822. It was named Difference Engine.

नोटः- चार्ल्स बेवेज को कम्प्यूटर का पिता कहा जाता है। इन्होंने सबसे पहला कम्प्यूटर सन् 1822  ईö में बनाया था। जिसका नाम डिफरेन्स इंजन रखा था।
