उपयोग के आधार पर कम्प्यूटर कई प्रकार के होते है, जैसे-


Notebook / Laptop Computers (नोटवुक/लैपटॉप कम्प्यूटर)

Laptop
These are Portable Computers. Notebook / Laptop computers are light in weight, they contain Flat LCD screen, a Touch pad. It also has a Hard disk drive (HDD), or Solid State Drive (SSD), a compact disc (CD) / Digital Versatile/ Video disc (DVD) port for Connecting Peripheral Devices.

ये पोर्टेबल कम्प्यूटर होते है। नोटवुक/लैपटॉप कम्प्यूटर लाइटवेट होते है इनमें फ्लैट LCD स्क्रीन और टच पैड लगा होता है। इसके अलावा इनमें हार्ड डिस्क या सॉलिड स्टेट ड्राईव/ सीडी/ डी वी डी/ आदि मेमोरी का उपयोग डेटा स्टोर करने के लिए किया जाता है, और अन्य पेरीफेरल डिवाइस कनेक्ट के लिए अलग से पोर्ट दिए गए होते है। साइज मे छोटे और बजन में हल्के होने के कारण इन्हें एक जगह से दूसरी जगह ले जाना आसान होता है।

 


Personal Computers (पर्सनल कम्प्यूटर्स)

Desktop computer
This is non portable computers. Personal computers are general purpose computer that fits on a normal size office table and is used by one person at a time. Such as Desktop Computers.

यह नॉन पोर्टेबल कम्प्यूटर होते है। यह सामान्य उद्देश्य के लिए इस्तेमाल किये जाते है, इन्हें टेबल के ऊपर रख कर एक बार में एक ही व्यक्ति के द्वारा उपयोग किया जा सकता है, ये कम्प्यूटर लैपटॉप से काफी पॉवरफुल होते है। इन कम्प्यूटर्स को आसानी से अपग्रेड किया जा सकता है।जैसे- Desktop computers.



Workstation (वर्कस्टेशन)

Workstation computer
A Workstation is a powerful computer than desktop computer. It is used for Engineering Application (CAD/CAM), desktop publishing, Software and other types of application that require a moderate amount of computing power and relatively high-quality graphics capabilities. In networking, workstation refers to any computer connected to a local are network. It could be a workstation or a personal computer. A workstation is a computer designed for professional use by a single user.

वर्कस्टेशन कम्प्यूटर डेस्कटॉप कम्प्यूटर से पॉवरफुल होते है। ये कम्प्यूटर इंजीनियरिंग एप्लीकेशन (CAD/CAM), डेस्टॉप पबलिशिंग, और अन्य प्रकार की हाई क्वालिटी की ग्रॉफिक डिजाइन के लिए उपयोग किये जाते है। नेटवर्क में, वर्कस्टेशन कम्प्यूटर लोकल कम्प्यूटर से कनेक्ट कम्प्यूटर्स को रेफर करते है। ये वर्कस्टेशन और पर्सनल कम्प्यूटर भी हो सकते है। वर्कस्टेशन ऐसे कम्प्यूटर होते है, जो एक सिंगल यूजर के लिए प्रोफेशनल कार्य करने के लिए डिजाइन किये जाते है।



Server (सर्वर कम्प्यूटर )

Server computer
A Server is a computer or a series of computers that link other computer or electronic devices together. A server is a computer device that provides a service to another computer program and its user also known as the client.

सर्वर कम्प्यूटर बहुत से कम्प्यूटर्स के सीरीज होते है, जो एक दूसरे लिंक होते है। ये कम्प्यूटर सभी कम्प्यूटर्स से पॉवरफुल होते है। ये ऐसे कम्प्यूटर होते है, जो अन्य कम्प्यूटर्स को सर्विस प्रदान करते है, जिन्हें क्लाइंट के नाम से जाना जाता है।



Palmtop Computer (पामटॉप कम्प्यूटर)

Palmtop computer
Palmtop computer a very small computer that can be hand held and carried in the pocket. Palmtops feature a small LCD screen and a compressed keyboard. A Palmtop is a small computer that fits in your palm. Palmtop are also called PDA’s , hand held computers and pocket computers. Most palmtop computers do not include disk drives. 

पामटॉप कम्प्यूटर आकार में बहुत छोटे होते है, इन्हें हम आसानी से अपनी पॉकेट में भी सम्भाल कर रख सकते है। इसमें एक छोटी सी स्क्रीन और एक कीबोर्ड लगा होता है। ये कम्प्यूटर साइज में छोटे होते है इसलिए इसे हम अपने हथेली पर रख कर आसानी से उपयोग कर सकते है। इसे PDA भी कहा जाता है।
